Hey ya!
I love meeting up with my writing and author friends. They’re full of wisdom and great advice. I always leave one an writer occasion, whether it’s a dinner or a proper group meeting, wanting to go to computer and do a million and one things.

At the moment, I’m gathering advice about promotion and how to do it, after the inital burst onto the scene. How do I keep that momentum going? Now I know you can’t do everything, but I’m going to try hahaha, because the book can’t do it on its own. I’m going to be cheering and championing for Thai-riffic! as long as I can.

I know I’m going to let ‘word of mouth’ do some of the hard work for me, I’ll travel as far and wide as I can, libraries, schools, bookstores, being in front of my audience will build up cred and sales. It’s instant recognition. I’ve already lined up a few luncheon and afternoon teas, run by some dedicated writers, so I’m grateful for those, especially when I’m not officially an author yet 🙂

One of my cool author friends, Karen Robertson spoke about how the message of the book, being bigger than the book itself. She’s got this ‘think big to win big’ mindset that works for her and I want to jump on board that way of thinking. So I’m gonna think outside the square and try for some non-traditional means of PR and getting sales…

But from what everyone tells me, whatever you do will work if you believe in yourself. It could be a school visit, an article, to organising massive events. You have to go out there and grab those opportunities. It’s going to be a lot of fun seeing how Thai-riffic! goes in its first year, rest assured, that you’ll be a part of it 🙂

And lastly, a word from Garth Nix. The best way to promote your book is to write the next one. Well said. But to find that balance to write and promote….mmmm is it like love and marriage, you can’t have one without the other?

Yes and yes!
