Halo!

I flew down to sunny Phuket for the second half of my short trip. I’ve had 3 lovely days at British International School, where they’re having their book week celebrations. I always admire how different librarians celebrate Book Week, and these guys have certainly been building up the buzz of my visit.

I’ve done heaps of talks across the grades from 3 to 10, and have been interviewed by a Year 10 class for their media assignment. These guys have been doing their homework on me, they were far beyond your typical questions.  They were writing articles and tackled it from different angles. This one kid grilled me about my love of Sonic and Pokemon, man we could have talking for hours 🙂  Another student asked about kids and tutoring from Con-nerd.

It was a jam packed 3 days, the librarians had plenty of competitions to keep the kids busy. This included some fan art based on Con-nerd.

I was also the host and judge of the Punchlines Comedy Competition, where kids got tell their jokes. I gotta say, there were a few double acts with sharp comic timing! Man, I wish there was something like this when I was at school hehe.

Another highlight was meeting other teachers and fellow authors for dinner, with a lovely view of Phuket Town. The food was delish (which is good because my mum was there, lol)

Now that I’ve had a taste for international schools, I’m keen to do some more. The mix of work and travel is great but I just love meeting heaps of kids from all over the world. And to turn them into cHEwY gum gums is a huge bonus!
