Hello Joe (and everyone else)

I’ve been reading books that have been short-listed by the CBCA (just the older and younger readers categories), well trying to. My local library network, Liverpool City Council, doesn’t have half the titles listed such as Elizabeth Fensham’s Matty Forever, but that’s okay, I’m sure they’ll buy it. Because I like how little-known titles get re-discovered and recognised for being a great book. So I look forward to reading it, soon.

But here’s the thing that gets me. I tried to borrow Jarvis 24 from my local library today, and the librarian said I couldn’t, because it’s being kept for book week and a display of the books. Which is fair enough…

Except book week is 2 months away.

So, I’m guessing that they’ll hoard these shortlisted books til then. Which sort of defeats the purpose, right? I mean, I want to read all the books before the annoucement.

Luckily I managed to snap a few shortlisted titles. I’ve read Running with the Horses, and at the moment I’m reading Odo Hirsch’s Darius Bell and the Glitter Pool.

As for Jarvis 24…ah wells, there’s always after book week . At least then, it’ll have a silver or gold sticker on it 🙂

O.W

can't wait to read it 🙂
