What’s in a name?

Hey cHEwY gums gums

Happy Chinese New Year haha. Well, that’s how it feels for me sometimes, the year doesn’t really kick off for me until February hits and school gets underway…this Summer has been good. Hot of course but a chance to relax and get ready for a jam packed 2018.

In the meantime, I’ve been chipping away at my future cHEwY creation called Don’t Follow Vee. It’s shaping along nicely, as I await my edits for the 2018 release, Nobody’s Prefect…or as it’s now called, Natural Born Loser

Why the name change? Well, a quick survey of schools I did last year revealed that many schools don’t have prefects anymore. And while some would have appreciated the pun, a lot wouldn’t have. A title really needs to sell the book on it’s own merits. Trust me, I should know haha. Thai-no-mite was the sequel to Thai-riffic! But many don’t know it is. Sure, the covers look the same, but I wonder what if it was called More Thai-riffic! or something like that. It is (spicy)food for thought 🙂

Then there’s Con-nerd and Super Con-nerd, the books were a few years apart, but I think the links are much stronger between the two. Then again, there’s no 2 sticking out on Super Con-nerd, so I wonder if people know hehe.

Speaking of sequels, good author buddy Tim Harris has brought out Part 2 of Mr Bambuckle Remarkables. I went to the launch at The Children’s Bookshop in Beecroft. I loved the first book and it is good to know that there are more adventures on the way hehe.

So yeah, next week I’m off to Singapore for the Words Go Round Festival, stay tuned for news on my cHEwY trip to Asia hehe.
