Hey ya!

I’m back from a friend’s wedding in Fiji, recharged and ready for the Brisbane Writers Festival. But before that, I visited Caddies Creek PS. Now I’ve visited many schools who have been pumped up for my books but the kids there have taken it to a whole new level. A year 6 sent me a bunch of letters in a folder, a year 5 class did some mad Con-nerd art. And a teacher laid out the welcome mat, I mean welcome artwork that I got to keep! Wowee, I couldn’t ask for a better gift 🙂

For more photos of fan service, come over to my Facebook fan page hehe. It was the perfect boost before I ventured to Brisbane for the writers festival. I remember being here 3 years ago as a new author and it’s nice to be back to where it all began. I love the relaxed nature of the festival at the State Library, with the green room being up on level 5. It makes for nice views like these…

It was great to meet old friends like Deb Abela, Brenton Mckenna, Michael Gerald Bauer and James Phelan…and of course meet some cHEwY gum gums! I’ll never take these moments for granted, it’s a real honour to be invited to these huge festivals. Plus I get to be on the adults program with Crazy Rich Asians with Benjamin Law and Kevin Kwon on Friday too hehe.

I’m still crossing my fingers that Bookish will get the green light from Penguin, as soon as I get news then I’ll let you all know! 🙂
