Killer App

Hello there!

After a nice Easter weekend, I went to the CBCA Northern Sydney Sub Branch meeting at St Kevin’s library in Dee Why. Because Karen Robertson was talking about book apps…not be confused with e-books. Book apps are halfway between a book and game, with interactive sounds and images. She’s forward thinking, transferring her Treasure Kai series from a book to an app. I mean, her ‘book’ was already pretty interactive with the toys that come with the book but now it’s gone up a new whole level. If I had an ithingy, I would get it hehe

Karen spoke about the roller coaster ride of creating a book app and she’s written an e-book that tells how do to it. Of course, the story still has to come first and adding a few flashy gimmicks isn’t going to drive a book app, it’s a great story.

On Friday, I went to the wonderful book launch of Kate Forsyth’s The Starkin Crown and Belinda Murrell’s Ivory Rose. They were launched by Deb Abela who gave us some really good reasons why to read their books. I’m looking forward to reading their books, especially when I got the whole ‘Starkin trilogy.’

Speaking of book launches, plans are underway for Con-nerd’s book launch. More details soon hehe
