Yo Yo!
Last week was sorta like the first day of term after holidays, where you catch up with your friends. I had two committee meetings, the first at the Hughenden Hotel for the SCBWI NSW branch. Susanne Gervay outlined the big conference for the middle of the year. I’m thrilled to be the Twitter person and video guy across the three days, from June 29th to July 1st.
After that we had the regular meeting where Susanne and Chris Cheng told us the latest goss from around the world. They’ll be flying the flag for us in the Bolonga Book Fair. Then we got a treat when Room2Read’s founder, John Wood came over for drinks. Room2Read is a wonderful charity that gives kids a fighting chance through books.
It was an honour to meet such a generous and kind person. Room2Read managed to raise over 1 million dollars on one night, a tremendous effort!
On Wednesday, I donned my treasurer’s hat for the CBCA Northern Sydney Sub-branch committee meeting. Our president Wendy Fitzgerald, kindly offered her workplace to host the meeting. It’s the closest I’ll ever get to sitting in a conference room with comfy cheers and wine 🙂
We nutted out a plan for our sub-branch meetings and Lunch with the Stars event, we’re so blessed to have so many dedicated people on our team. Our first meeting is on February 29th at St Keirens in Manly Vale, 7:30pm, where Wendy Blaxland talks about making a living out of writing, yes it is possible!
Now my calendar is literally packed, so get ready for more fab news and going-ons soon!
