Ho Ho Ho!
I’ve got a writer friend who does method writing. Maybe you do it too, you try something that your character experiences and then you write about it.
In Connerd, my main character Connor has to go through his selective entrance exam. Now it’s been ages since I did mine, so I had to do some research on the current entrance exams. There are now four sections, with 5 minute breaks in between. Talk about intense!
I did a reading sample test, under strict exam conditions and I got 28 out of 35. Yes, I’m a teacher. Not a good one it seems haha
I tried the Maths section and even with a V can, I was dumbstruck. Graphs of all sorts, snowflake numbers, weird tables…it was an epic fail!
I’m going to retry another sample maths section next week. It’s all part of the writing process. I can draw on my past anxiety and dramas, using this current format of sections.
Then there’s the written response section. Mmmm, writing for 20 minutes, surely I can’t fail that.
Right?
