The homestretch!

Woo Hoo!
Heather’s sent me the grand final pages for Thai-riffic! With every draft, I always try to have a goal in mind when I’m reading (to keep things fresh). In this case, I was looking for bits to read out loud for author visits-I want to read a fast-paced, funny section, it’s important to choose one of the best bits to get the audience pumped up. I’ve seen authors try to read the ‘set the scene’ pages and they tend to fall flat…
A couple of weeks ago, I came to Evi and Heather with some comic strip ideas for the ‘blank pages’ we had for Thai-riffic! They look fabtastic here (I’m dying to show you all but you’ve just gotta wait hehe) and are perfect ‘chapter breaks.’
I compared the earlier drafts of my stories to the finished edits, and wowee, Lengy has come a long way. The editing process is a blessing because you get to see what keen editors can do to a great story, they make them even greater!
I’ll be seeing Heather next Tuesday at the CBCA ‘AAA’ event with the finished pages. We’re about to lay Thai-riffic! in the oven, and it’s going to be baked (not fried) by June. Mmmm, I can’t wait!
